A week in the life of a busy GP practice!

Posted on:

It feels like it’s getting busier and busier and we are working very hard to keep up – this is some of what we did last week…

Our GPs had 383 appointments, 109 same day triage calls and 5 home visits.

Our nurses had 123 appointments, 21 home visits, 40 health checks and 55 blood tests.

Our admin team dealt with over 1000 telephone calls and 600 practice emails as well as registering 32 new patients.

We followed up on over 250 messages from patients, district nurses, hospital consultants, social prescribers, social workers, paramedics and family members.

We processed over 360 incoming documents, scanning, filing, checking info and following up with the patient if needed.

We referred over 50 patients.

We checked and processed over 180 repeat prescriptions.

We requested, checked and followed up on over a 100 different tests.

We processed multiple medical reports for various organisations.

And this doesn’t include all the training, meetings, rota and budget planning to keep it all going!

Please help us by using all the services available to you: using online services by downloading the NHS App, visiting your pharmacist for minor illness advice and checking the self-care information on our website are all excellent places to start.

And always let us know when you don’t need an appointment so we can give the time to another patient.

Thanks for your support – it makes a big difference to all of us.
